Article from Melton Times for one of the first Old Dalby Fetes 1984/85, 'Old Dalby's Wild Bunch'! Pictured are children in fancy dress, sitting pretty in the stocks; Julie Stokes (6); Helen Rodgers (5); Louise Dixon (4); Meric Little (7) and Craig Dixon (7). Young Kevin Procter was also pictured. The retiring Headmaster of Old Dalby school, Mr Richard Roper, opened the fete. The fete raised £470.00 for Church funds.

"Article from the Melton Times, on the first publicly announced 'Old Dalby Day' Bank Holiday weekend, August 1986. Denis Coath, from Central Television, opened the event and his wife judged the fancy dress. The winners of the 3 classes were Kate & John Vanham (Royal Wedding); Kevin Fisher (Come as a punk) & Georgina Knott (Boy George).
Other attractions during the day included dog & cat show, family pet show, gymnastics display, Tornado Brass Band, Horticultural Show, Welly Wanging and a round of Tug-of-war to end the day's activities."

Article from Leicester Mercury, Thursday September 3 1987 'Old Dalby shows off'. Twelve gardens of Old Dalby were on show, which raised a staggering £1,000 to help towards the final phase of restoration at the local village hall.
